Apparently, i have to create a regular direct invoice first (which i did), and then somehow mark it as a template. Mark the tmpl checkbox for the items you want to be templates. Create an invoice without a sales order.
Select a template sales order for an invoice by clicking an icon on right hand side. This method allows you to create an invoice directly, skipping the following steps entirely: The recurrent invoices use the template orders, that are shown under template delivery/template invoice.
Then they will show up when selecting template delivery/invoice. Search sales orders using fields on the screen.
